Valve today launched new Half-Life: Alyx modding tools which will allow developers and tinkerers to make and publish mods and user-generated content via the Steam Workshop system. Valve says the tools will allow for the creation of new levels, models, textures, and animations for the game.

Create your own levels, textures, models, and animations using the Alyx Workshop tools suite. According to the official notes , creators will have the opportunity to customize nearly every aspect of the existing HL:A experience, from the robust physics engine, to particle effects, to the in-game multi-tool puzzle mechanic.

This night I woke up at 3am to participate in HTC Vive’s event on ENGAGE because I read that it was an “HTC VIVE LAUNCH EVENT” and I was super-confident in the launch of the Cosmos XR or at least of the Cosmos Play. Some of these key players, like ENGAGE, are companies in which HTC already invests into.

According to developer scopatgames, vrkshop challenges you to build projects with hand tools, which means no snap-to-guides or limits on how to cut or fasten the lumber together. The current build is nearly set for release, scopatgames says, which includes: Hand tools: saw and hammer. Marking tools: pencils, chalk, eraser.

Valve has today released a new VR content creation tool suite called Destinations, a free program that lets you create, share and view community-created photogrammetry scenes, game worlds, and other 3D models.
