HTC has now opened applications to its latest Vive X accelerator, the company’s $100 million program which aims to help grow the global AR/VR ecosystem by providing both software and hardware developers the right tools, expertise, and investment. HTC says there will be more locations yet to come.

A survey sponsored by HTC America is currently open on SurveyGizmo , with the option to enter a prize draw, which includes three Vive systems and seven gift cards worth $100 – $150. The 10-15 minute ‘experiences with VR’ survey is for HTC’s ‘research purposes only’, aiming to gather some general VR usage data and purchasing habits.

According to HTC, applications crossed a wide spectrum of non-gaming applications of VR areas such as Education, Enterprise, Training, Health and Wellness and more. In fact, nearly 60% of applications were non-gaming or non-entertainment content. “Building an object that can be tracked alongside the Vive can be complex.”

The company promises VR-enabled in-vehicle entertainment and productivity applications – and they’ve delivered. Investing in the only in-vehicle VR entertainment company and then making games for them is a foot into a wide-open market. It’s HTC, it’s Pico, etc., We’ve been keeping our eyes on holoride for a while now.

HTC is now on its fourth batch in its $100 million accelerator program, which offers education, investment and mentorship to startups doing unique and and interesting things around VR and AR. Like years prior, the accelerator program is spread out across Asia, North America, Europe, and the Middle East.

Dan O’Brien, Vive general manager for the Americas, revealed to The Rolling Stone that Valve was still “very committed” to the promise of delivering its three VR games: “I manage the relationship with Valve,” O’Brien says. They are very committed; they are still committed to delivering on that promise.”.
