From my research, I’ve discovered that the earliest form of virtual reality came in 1962 when Morton Heilig built the Sensorama. It was a device that the user sat in-front of while their head was encased on four sides by a screen and they watched any one of five films, which all engaged sight, sound, smell and touch.
