Sansar’s in-house engine looks pretty good right now, eh? And it’s not just games that are affected by this news; many metaverse platforms are using Unity too, and it remains to be seen how this news will impact them. It’s the smaller, more niche metaverse platforms I’m a little worried about.

All Viveport users (not only the Infinity ones) can get free passes for two upcoming big music events on Sansar (Tobacco Dock Virtual and Lost Horizons) on a dedicated website. Does this mean that it plans including also Sansar in its future XR Suite offerings?

According to a blog post on the company’s website, Linden Labs has already been sold to an investment group led by Randy Waterfield and Brad Oberwager. Sansar, that was created as well by Linden, had already been sold to mysterious startup Wookie Project and will so be unaffected by this transaction. I can’t wait to read it.

There were portals and search engines and blog rolls and discussion groups. In-world content sales aren’t available yet on any major VR platform, though Linden Lab’s Sansar may change that soon. There were Internet directories and magazines you could buy in physical book stores. Second Life and OpenSim offer a lot of that.
