I hope to be wrong, of course: maybe Valve has just accelerated to launch its device before Apple may finally release its one. Preorders are expected to start on the day of the Connect, so on September, 27th.

The Pico 5 Pro Max looks like a dream hybrid headset : it is a standalone device with eye tracking and passthrough, and it also has the DisplayPort connection that makes it work like a true tethered headset when connected to a PC. There are various reasons for that: In the beginning, many games will be porting from the Quest 1 , so they won’t exploit completely the XR2 chipset; The headset runs at 90Hz and has a 4K display.
