Let’s be honest: no one made correct predictions for 2020. But hey, let me play this game anyway, so here you are my predictions for virtual reality in 2021 based on the trends and the anticipations that we had at the end of 2020! 2021 won’t be the year of VR. I know, we all feel like this.

It isn’t alone, we know of many companies that are spending billions on same, including Microsoft, Google, Amazon, Sony, Magic Leap, Huawei, and others. Qualcomm told me that by the end of 2020 we will see a ton of them announced (Qualcomm makes the core technology that Facebook’s Oculus Quest uses.

We plan to go online with it on Amazon or Netflix and present it like that, and then have it be an additional thing that maybe Netflix or Amazon has on their platform in the Oculus or HTC. And they had great group that they'd assembled, but sadly, if they don't constantly push the envelope with media, you can't stay in business now.

On Quest you can bring up the browser without minimizing the immersive app, so you could be standing next to a friend in a VR game while you quickly Google something. To legally download movies on Quest you have to sideload the Android phone APKs of Netflix or Amazon Prime Video from your computer. But Google said no, he claimed.
