It is standalone (as HoloLens and Magic Leap ) and has cameras through which it sees the environment. IMHO that would be a crazy move… no one would buy a Rift 1 in 2021, considering that a lot of interesting PC VR headsets like Pimax are entering now the market. 4k x 4k per eye displays (eye tracking useful for this).
