They should guarantee better tracking both for the headset and the controllers; The controllers are smaller and seem a mix between the Oculus Touch and the WMR 1 controllers. I don’t see this device stealing the scene from Oculus, since Oculus is cheaper, but I’m quite sure this new headset will be able to grab a good market share.

Yes, this one has passthrough, 4K screens, etc… but still, it’s a very old and very not-immersive use case. And the video trailer showed a guy playing with a gamepad and the Apple headset , like people playing with the Oculus CV1 at launch. What year is it? 2016 or 2023? So it’s a good use case, but nothing new.

From time to time, I like to look at the adoption graph of XR shown by John Riccitiello (the CEO of Unity) in 2017 , where you can see that the real acceleration of immersive technologies should start around 2022-2023. Yes, it’s a lot of time, but these are realistic projections. The Quest will still be the king.

For instance, in the box I’ve found a cleaning cloth for an Oculus device… and I don’t think it actually comes with a Microsoft HoloLens! On HoloLens 1, whatever Unity application I run had framerate problems, while here all Unity applications worked like a charm. Anyway, 52° diagonal is still little.
