So (a bit late) here you are a list of some of the most relevant XR trends to follow in 2024, with some predictions of what to expect next. Many companies always follow the trends set by Apple, and the XR field is no exception to this rule. Basically, Google could try to be for standalone devices what Steam has been for the PC VR ones.

At least from the outside, it appears Microsoft isn’t actively competing for a seat at the XR table, which is fairly odd coming from a company that pioneered enterprise AR while simultaneously wrangling some of its top OEM partners to make a fleet of PC VR headsets for consumers in 2017. If Microsoft goes in half-cocked, maybe.

A new FCC listing appears for an HTC Vive headset. And in fact, a new request to FCC for a new device has arrived from HTC. FCC certifications are requested before releasing an electronic device in the US (to certify that it is safe to be used), so this is a clear sign that HTC is going to release a new headset soon.

When it comes to the most-searched-for headsets, there’s been three clear leaders during the 2016, ’17, and ’18 holiday shopping seasons: PlayStation VR, Oculus Rift, and HTC Vive. times Oculus Rift, 5 times HTC Vive, and many times greater than other headsets like Valve Index, Oculus Go, Pimax, and Samsung Odyssey.

Microsoft announces Mesh, an XR collaboration platform. Alex Kipman promised us a Microsoft Ignite conference with an amazing level of immersion , and he kept his word. But since Microsoft owns one of those studios (and using it costs around $100K/day if I remember well!), You are all fantastic! Here you are my flower for you!

But in China, they are very famous, and now they are also organizing a big event about XR called FBEC with hosts from all the major VR companies (HTC, Unity, Alibaba, Huawei, etc…). For example, we invited senior executives from HUAWEI, JBD, HTC, Alibaba, iQIYI, Qualcomm, Microsoft, and so on. Why and how has it started?
