On February 13, IKEA launched an educational and interactive AR game called Lilla Äventyret ( The Little Adventure ). The AR game was made possible through IKEA’s partnership with Meta and Warpin Reality and lets users learn more about marine life and ways with which they can protect them. This isn’t IKEA’s first foray into leveraging AR to deliver better experiences for customers.

I had a chance to talk with Oculus Founder Palmer Luckey about the past, present, & future of XR where he reveals to me that his defence contracting company Anduril has more people employed working on VR than Oculus did when bought out by Facebook. Anduril is working on creating immersive virtual reality user interfaces, custom VR headsets, and some cutting-edge perception augmentation beyond sight.

Meta added a hand tracking teleportation system to its Interaction SDK. The Interaction SDK is a Unity framework providing high quality common hand interactions for controllers and hand tracking. It includes direct object grabbing, distance grabbing, interactable UI elements, gesture detection, and more. This means developers don’t have to reinvent the wheel, and users don’t have to relearn interactions between apps using the SDK.

Agora Inc, a major real-time engagement platform for application programme interfaces (APIs), announced on Thursday it had launched its Artificial Intelligence (AI) Noise Suppression solution. Gran Turismo 7, Sony’s flagship racing series, arrives as a PSVR 2 launch title. Available as a free update for existing PS5 owners, here’s our full review. Gran Turismo Sport promised greater things to come on PSVR. With VR support limited to 1v1 races against an AI opponent and time trials, it amazed and frustrated many back in 2017, and Gran Turismo 7 shows us how it’s done on PlayStation VR2.

Warpin Reality, a Stokholm, Sweden-based extended reality (XR) firm creating immersive experiences for clients, launched an augmented reality (AR) experience this month in a major partnership with Meta Platforms and IKEA. The AR initiative, Lilla Äventyret (Swedish: Little Adventure), functions as an app filter on Instagram for people of all ages. IKEA worked with its XR partners to teach children the effects of pollution and litter on the ocean’s delicate ecosystem.

IKEA Retail Sweden has recently launched a limited-time augmented reality experience for families at 21 selected stores throughout Sweden. The kid-friendly Instagram filter, Lilla Äventyret, was created in collaboration with Meta and Warpin Reality to teach visitors about various sea life through an interactive game based on IKEA’s BLÅVINGAD collection.
