The Daily Prophet, the enchanted newspaper from Harry Potter lore, is no longer the sole source for magical moving printed photos. On Tuesday, Lifeprint Products Inc. unveiled the official Harry Potter Magic Photo and Video Printer as the latest edition in its line-up of connected handheld printers. The device is available now for pre-order through Amazon for $149.99, with wider availability through traditional and online retailers starting on Oct. 22.

We already know that Magic Leap is working with Hollywood motion capture legend Andy Serkis on a new immersive content experience but, so far, all we've heard are descriptions of the work. Well, now the mystery is over, and the character of Grishneck, who was mentioned just last month, has finally been revealed. The character, an ogre-like creature, is described by Serkis as a kind of unofficial cast off from the ranks of the Orcs from the Lord of the Rings franchise.

Vienna-based startup Cybershoes today launched their much-awaited Kickstarter campaign, which seeks to commercialize the titular device that allows you to ‘walk’ in VR with your own two feet. The idea is pretty simple: the shoe coverings feature a barrel-style wheel, that when spun, translates to forward and backwards VR movement. Sitting on a swivel stool, you mimic a walking movement and travel in the desired direction.

I find roguelikes to be somewhat masochistic. You play as far as you can even when you know death will put an end to every ounce of hard work you put in—all of it with the knowledge that when you hit the restart button, that everything has changed and all of the challenges are rearranged; a true Sisyphean task that bears out just enough accomplishment to keep you going.
