Someone invokes saviors like Google and Amazon, but even if they managed to succeed, they are other data-harvesting companies , so in any case, we are f**ked. That’s why even Microsoft took Epic’s stances : Microsoft uses UE4 to develop some products also for Apple devices, and this decision hurts also its business.

Didn’t work (Image by Microsoft). Of course, Microsoft and Amazon are observing the situation: in my opinion, Microsoft will wait a bit , considering its focus on AR enterprise with HoloLens, while Amazon could improve its already existing offering of glasses connected with Alexa. Sounded good.

Bytedance can’t compete out off the bat with Facebook, but it has deep pockets too and also may have the support (and the money) of the Chinese government, so it is a company to keep an eye on. Epic has implemented it, and Unity is doing that too. I am a Unity developer, and I can tell you that now Unity.XR

From time to time, I like to look at the adoption graph of XR shown by John Riccitiello (the CEO of Unity) in 2017 , where you can see that the real acceleration of immersive technologies should start around 2022-2023. Yes, it’s a lot of time, but these are realistic projections.
