Two days ago, I’ve given you my predictions for virtual reality in 2021 (read it, in case you missed it). 2021 is going to be an interesting year for AR. In this sense, 2021 will be a very important year, because we’ll start seeing how the mainstream is interested in wearing electronic glasses on their face.

This year was going to be the year of augmented reality, but by the end of 2018 market analysts were pointing to 2020 or 2021 as the “golden year” of AR. Going into 2019, the industry eagerly awaits HoloLens 2 and Glass Enterprise Edition 2, as rumors swirl around the possibility of AR glasses from Apple and/or Facebook in the near future.

We were all expecting this since AR and VR are a bit in a transitional moment and the biggest brands (like Facebook and Apple) have their events through which they’ll announce their new devices, but for me, this lack of news was worse than the expected. I guess we’ll discover this in Mid 2021 when these glasses will launch.

Vive Tracker has been one of the best products ever launched by HTC and it has been used in many applications, either for leisure (think about full-body tracking in VRChat) or for professional usage (training with physical objects). And then there’s Apple’s many smaller acquisitions and acqui-hires as it continues to assemble its top-secret AR mystery box. That led to Dekko and Samsung — the former he founded and admits was early to AR. This can engender a strong read on the market so that a trained perspective is in place when it's needed.
