The report talks about Samsung wanting to target the $1000–2000 range, which in my opinion risks being neither expensive nor affordable.

I myself switched from Apple to Samsung in 2015 specifically for Samsung’s Gear VR headset. But when Samsung cancelled the project, I switched to the Google Pixel to stay close to Google’s VR platform.
