Top news of the week (Image by Meta) Quest 3 launch is approaching Meta is following a strategy for the launch of the Quest 3 that is very different from the one that it used for the previous headsets. I just think that Meta is trying a new strategy to keep the hype high until September.

The Unity Beta to develop for the Vision Pro is still not available, so many devs like me can’t even play with the emulator. But the rumors in the past weeks highlighted that the situation of this device is very confusing: Google doesn’t have a clear XR strategy and this confusion also led some key engineers to leave the company.

In the long and troublesome travel back to Italy from AWE, I’ve lost the last flight and so I’m currently here writing my newsletter from the lobby of the hotel where I spent the night :|. Anyway, it is more probable that we’ll have some software reveal that hints at Apple’s XR strategy.

Inflation here in Italy is ramping up, and the impression I have is that we are entering into a recession phase. The same luck has not happened to employees at Niantic at Unity. Anyway, in these two weeks, even with some difficulties, I’ve managed to work quite at the same pace that I had in Italy , and we are going full speed ahead in improving the platform (some news about it is coming very soon…). While still in Italy, I verified that Microsoft Teams, Unity, and Github were accessible from China.
