Some days ago, I found an article on Futurism talking about a university in France able to create the “first smart contact lens” The article also talked about Augmented Reality and the interest of the DARPA for using this product. Me doing a duck face with a pair of Magic Leap on.

Google chickened out , Microsoft got distracted , and it's totally understandable if you lost interest in VR when they did. Yes, Google might still be resurgent with Android, powered by Owlchemy's insights and Samsung's hardware , and other companies might surprise with a novel strategy too. Vision Pro did AR in VR that well.
