Despite the popularity of Pokémon GO, augmented reality gaming hasn't quite caught on yet. The makers of the popular World of Tanks game aren't taking a shot at Niantic's crown yet, but they are looking at giving spectators a new way to watch the game. The game's maker, Wargaming.net, previewed the prototype World of Tanks AR Spectate at gamescon 2018 last week.

Apple has acquired Akonia Holographics , a startup focused on holographic display and storage technology. The move is the latest development in a years-long string of acquisitions, patents, and hirings by the company focused on augmented and virtual reality technology. The acquisition of Akonia Holographics was confirmed to Reuters by Apple , though the tight-lipped company had nothing to share regarding the purpose of the acquisition.

EON Reality attended the ‘ Digital Campus and Learning Transformation 2018 Conference ’, hosted by Clariden Global, that ran from the 14-16th of August 2018 in Singapore. Starting tomorrow, August 31st, the Imogen Heap experience will kick off with an 11:00 AM PT showing ( local time here ). Oculus recently announced the’ll be expanding their educational pilot program by donating Oculus Rift and Oculus Go headsets to a number of educational institutions across Taiwan, Japan, and Seattle. Dubbed Oculus Education, the new phase of the program is intended to bring VR headsets into schools, libraries, and museums, with what the company says is an overall goal of better understanding how teachers, students, and various institutions can use VR for learning and collaboration.

The open-source tool is free for download now on Oculus and Steam. Despite several delays under its belt, Golem , a unique looking VR adventure title headed to PSVR, is on track to launch in 2018, affirms developer Highwire Games. Golem was originally due to launch on the previously delayed release date of March 16th, but a week prior developer Highwire Games announced an indefinite delay to ensure the studio could “release a polished VR experience that we are proud of,” and at the time said they “don’t expect the delay to be very long.”
