Regarding the glasses, I have not big hopes for true AR glasses, but I think that thanks to Facebook and Apple, finally we’ll have some important smartglasses entering the market , making the mainstream think about wearing something on their face to enjoy notifications from the phone. Phone AR will be always more popular.

HTC has finally revealed the price of the Vive Pro : it will cost $799 just to have the headset (no controller and no base stations, so you must already have a Vive 1 kit) and will be available for pre-orders since April, 5th. But, as Road To VR has stated, maybe HTC should have clarified that in all its marketing material.

We have also to consider that in 2019, most of VR companies (Valve, Oculus, HTC, etc…) have already launched their devices, and given that VR headsets have usually a lifecycle of 2-3 years, I’m not expecting them to announce something new next year. HTC will focus more on the enterprise market.

I think that Zuck is now all-in with XR, and all these games are not relevant to Facebook’s current strategy, so the deal has not been completed. The new update for Oculus Quest brings with it some interesting features, like the tracking of the Apple Magic Keyboard, some updates to the UI, and a new menu for hand tracking.

But at the presentation of the latest Samsung Note 10, for the first time after the Note 4, Samsung has dropped support for Gear VR in its latest flagship device. What Facebook said fits perfectly in its strategy and I personally think it is just one step, and many others are coming in the future. He said that he was annoyed by Facebook having to deal with Google and Apple, the owners of the operating systems for smartphones, when developing features for the Facebook app. No competition.
