To showcase its functionality, HTC showed some videos of the tracker in use to improve the performances of hands tracking and also with the tracker installed on external props. I think for instance about the SenseGlove Nova, which has these big controllers attached to the gloves just to have 6DOF tracking. Futher references.

I think that from the results of this battle, which will happen most probably in 2022, we will understand the trends that will drive the VR gaming market in all the upcoming years. Oculus has also partnered with Virtuclear to offer prescription lenses for the Quest 2 for $80. You can now use consumer devices inside Oculus For Business.

While the first version was an all-in-one with diffractive waveguides like Microsoft HoloLens, the new one is an all-in-two light device that connects to your smartphone and uses birdbath optics. Oculus Link gets updated to 90Hz. After one year from the release of the Link , Oculus finally puts it out of beta with a big update.

I personally agree with what he says: notwithstanding the positive trend of VR, the ecosystem has still to grow before it enters the mainstream with the same power of a flat-screen console. Sony believes in VR, and we definitely believe at some point in the future, VR will represent a meaningful component of interactive entertainment.

My favorite ones have been: Sony Interactive Entertainment has revealed that the next PSVR headset will be called PSVR 2 and will feature 2K x 2K per eye, up to 120 Hz framerate, and 110° FOV. It will be the first consumer headset with eye-tracking and foveated rendering, and also the first one to feature haptics directly on the headset.

It’s good news by the way that there is continuous IPD adjustment (and with a wider range than before) and that thanks to eye tracking sensors, the headset can tell you if you have positioned it well on your head. There is also an eye-relief dial, so you can put the lenses very close to your eyes, for added field of view.
