I have instead tried another demo for Oculus Quest called Anamika, where you impersonate a four-armed Indian goddess. Another demo was more relaxing, and showed an interior design environment, with very high quality. As you can see there are tools like Block Programming that can make life easier for non-developers. This is because Leap Motion has announced its v4 version of the tracking runtime and with it three demos to showcase the new tracking functionalities: Cat Explorer, Particles, and Paint. As all these demos, it is a short app, it is more a showcase than a real practical app, but it is a great one : it is really well made.

Motion tracking is either done by the smartphone’s sensors or built-in headset sensors; thus, there are no cables hindering free movement. The great thing is, one can start for as cheap as fifteen bucks with the simplest headset from Google (Cardboard). Google Daydream View. Google Cardboard. Google Daydream.

This is the philosophy behind the Leap Motion Interaction Engine , which is built to handle low-level physics interactions and make them feel familiar. Well-designed tools afford their intended operation and negatively afford improper use. We did this with the sci-fi menus in our VR Cockpit demo. See also Fast Co.

But having seen Google taking a similar route, releasing a faceplate to add 6DOF controller tracking for Mirage Solo , I think that both companies realized that the hardware solution was a better solution at the moment. This is just a personal speculation of mine and there is not an official statement of HTC about it. Vive content.
