The HTC Vive Cosmos may release soon for €799. We all know that the Vive Cosmos should release very soon since HTC revealed me that the release date would have been in Q3 2019 and Q3 ends at the end of the month. Internal iOS 13 code seems to point at Apple AR glasses. It’s time for some amazing VR news, isn’t it? Who knows.

Eye Tracking Apart from sessions a few years ago using the HTC Vive Pro Eye and Microsoft Hololens, I didn’t have any experience with eye tracking. There is a small tab (visible in the image above) that starts a simple Unity-based application, with a series of white and green dots that must be followed by the user.

As the two premiere VR hardware manufacturers, Oculus Rift and HTC Vive both recognize this impediment to adoption and are lowering the price to play, albeit in different ways. HTC Vive has launched their own financing program which relieves the upfront pricing burden of their system– although still maintaining the total cost at $800.

Part of all of this is merit of Jeri (Image by HTC). Compare that to the HTC Vive that has like 40 giant infrared lights that strobe constantly to synchronize everything and spinning lasers with infrared light… and then the Kinect that has this huge laser illumination system, so those systems work totally different than ours.

Alan: Here’s the issue: 360 cameras cost $200, and somebody can go film there their holiday vacation, make it all unstable, throw in a VR headset, and start showing people. That’s where it really needs to push.

Unity is offering 3 months of Free Learning so that you can sharp your development skills. In the meantime, even HTC that was safe until now is having troubles in manufacturing the external tracking faceplate , whose release date will be delayed. It is another step towards the creation of a great AR ecosystem for Apple.
