All the big tech players — Microsoft, Google, Facebook, and Amazon — are in the game as well. Apple’s working on solving this problem, too, according to a report in Nikkei Asia. Companies like Ikea, Target, and Amazon have already used ARKit, mostly for placing virtual furniture in a room to see if it fits.

Your best bet is Amazon and dealing with the international shipping charges. So even if we managed to entice a big vendor to come and sell their hardware here, we would still need to send our hardware back to US/EU/ASIA to get it fixed and/or checked out. It’s a royal pain to get hardware in Chile. There’s a lot going on over here!

Much has been made of the use of robots to increase efficiency in warehouses —with web retailers such as Amazon announcing significant investment in that area. Students from Georgia Tech are working with Microsoft and Walmart to increase efficiency in warehouses using Mixed Reality.
