Sony invests $250M in Epic Games. Sony has announced that it has made a big investment of $250M in Epic Games through one of its subsidiaries. The investment gives Sony a minority stake in Epic that now is evaluated at more than $17B. And Sony for sure wants to have a stake in the metaverse. Top news of the week.

Today has been another interesting day: it has started with us running to try to enter the Cyberpunk 2077 booth (but with no luck) and has finished playing with an Oculus Go. One of my favorite games of all times is Unreal Tournament because I just love to shoot and kill without thinking too much… or better, without thinking AT ALL.

This Year’s VR Hardware of the Year Award went to the Oculus Quest. The Oculus Rift S was also nominated for the award. The original Oculus Rift won the first VR Headset of the Year Award (not its own category this year) in 2017. That same year, Oculus Touch won VR Hardware of the Year. VR Experience of the Year.

Epic Games, the creators of Unreal Engine, said it would consider building a launch title for Sony’s “next VR platform” during negotiations about Fortnite cross-play on PlayStation in 2018. And though Epic hasn’t made any VR games since then, it seems that in 2018 it was still ready and willing.

A standalone game, Scraper: First Strike, Episode I, will premiere on all four major VR platforms in late 2018 , in advance of the full Scraper game scheduled for a 2020 release on console and PC. For Oculus, Vive, Steam and WMR, we are releasing on 11/21/18 and for PSVR on 12/18/18. When is the release date and what will be the price?

The launch on Quest has gone pretty well , and the game has had good feedback from the press (apart from some graphical glitches that can be solved in future updates) and very positive reviews on the Oculus Store. Now there is the Oculus Quest. Oculus Quest and controllers (Image by Oculus).
