In my review of Amazon Sumerian I said multiple times that in other game engines, like Unity, it is not possible to create a WebVR experience. A WebVR exporter for Unity??? Unity on one side, a WebVR experience running on Firefox on the other one. So, how to do you export a WebVR project from inside Unity?

Until 2018 it was mostly focused on PC VR, a market it has mostly abandoned. And since then, it has failed to build its own software development platform besides a fragmented series of integrations for game engines like Unity, nor has it built out its own suite of vital first-party applications beyond Horizon Workrooms.

From time to time, I like to look at the adoption graph of XR shown by John Riccitiello (the CEO of Unity) in 2017 , where you can see that the real acceleration of immersive technologies should start around 2022-2023. Not to mention the millions spent on marketing , especially in the US (Oculus was one of the sponsors of NBA, for instance).

It has the ability to create a cross platform code where users can create their projects in either JavaScript, Unity, Xamarin, and Cordova. It has applications in training and educational use cases.

The first change was with Snapchat itself with the introduction of AR programmatic advertising in 2018 which dramatically reduced the price of augmented reality advertising to the same price as regular Snap ads. The third major change came from Unity which recently announced that it will now be serving AR ads on mobile.
