Unluckily, only US users will be able to enjoy it for Christmas, since the launch in Europe is delayed. This software, running on the Varjo XR-1 (the mixed reality headset), is able to show in front of you all the displays that you want. Unity releases the XR Interaction Toolkit. I hate this.

In Europe, this marketing effort is just starting now, so the penetration is not that high, yet. In the USA, it is almost mainstream; in Europe, it is something for people that have some knowledge of gaming or technology; in South America, is very difficult to get a headset. Epic has implemented it, and Unity is doing that too.

A leaked image from the Oculus team shows that the company is working to implement body tracking inside the Oculus Unity SDK. Microsoft is keeping pursuing AR, and in fact, part of the resources that were devoted to HoloLens 3 are now dedicated to what is known as project Bondi, which is the AR glasses that Microsoft is building with Samsung.

This week has been the week of the Oculus Connect 6 , the biggest yearly event by Oculus where the VR company announces all its most important news, both on hardware and software sides. It is a software solution that lets you connect your Oculus Quest to the PC so that you can “transform” your Oculus Quest into a PC VR headset.

This trend will continue in 2021 : the new LiDAR sensor, which is rumored to be installed in all future iPhones, will for sure be copied also by Android phones (Samsung?) I expect Magic Leap in 2021 to create some kind of enterprise software ecosystem , with remote collaboration applications, integrated cloud services, AI services, and such.
