Finally, the chip includes support for up to 12 concurrent cameras, up from 10 on the base XR2 Gen 2, to enable headsets with a plethora of face and eye tracking sensors. GPU performance, on the other hand, took a huge leap with the Gen 2 architecture.

These new pieces of hardware are based on the new Ampere architecture , which offers a big boost in performance compared with the previous Turing one. This sounds like black magic and it is really fascinating: using eye tracking and other hints, the system may understand what is that you want to hear, and filter out all the rest.

When you first put it on you’re told to hold the top button, and you feel (and see a visualization of) the lenses moving horizontally to align with your eyes. The eye tracking cameras sense the positions of your pupils and tiny piezoelectric actuators move the lenses into place. And I mean fully. This basic idea isn’t new.
