Apple is gearing up for the Vision Pro debut. The firm’s first XR headset is due soon, and with it comes a spatial computing ambition that draws similarities and differences to Lenovo, Microsoft, Meta, HTC VIVE, and other XR headset vendors. Just days after the Sapetop announcement, Apple revealed its Vision Pro product.

I n 2006, I attended a launch event in San Francisco for Microsoft Virtual Earth 3D. But that’s a non-starter for anyone outside of the few million people that own VR hardware (much less the compatible HTC and Oculus hardware). Another technology that could support immersive 3D maps is, again, the construction of the AR Cloud.
