Another leak regarded the release date: an Amazon listing put the availability date of the Quest 3 starting from October, 10th. First of all, Google has to keep the work on the headset very secret also internally , because Samsung is afraid that Google will steal its expertise to build a competing product.

And Quest 2 is much cheaper (especially now that has been put at $199): during the last holidays, it outperformed the Quest 3 by a factor 3:1 on Amazon US. As for the sales, Meta is used to launch headsets at Meta Connect, so probably preorders can start in Autumn 2024 at Meta Connect.

New leaks on Amazon and MediaMarkt have revealed that probably the headset will be available starting from October, 10th, 2023. This headset should feature pancake lenses, mixed reality capabilities, and micro-LED displays by Raxium , a startup owned by Google. In a few weeks, there will be a free alpha test open on SteamVR.
