Long considered the holy grail of immersive computing, all-day AR headsets represent a way of interacting with new layers of information in daily life which would span everything from turn-by-turn directions to gaming applications—like Google Maps directions floating on the street in front of your car or a city-wide version of Pokémon Go.

Steve Dann : We founded it when it first started off and originally, it was Microsoft’s answer to Google Campus. The group later pivoted and sold the upper floors to WeWork, but COVID-19 came along and brought everything tumbling down, stopping us from meeting up for about two years.

Dear Esther was the studio’s hit, coming out as a mod back in 2008, a year after The Chinese Room was formed. From there the group released Korsakovia , another mod, and the survival horror game Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs. So Let Us Melt is out now on the Google Play Store priced at $9.49.

Bellevue, WA-based company Innovega has raised $3M to hasten development of its augmented reality and contact lens system eMacula (in development since 2008).

The World Map in this world therefore isn’t a 2D street map like we have with Google Maps or Open Street Map, nor is it a 3D map with terrain and building volumes. Both Azure Spatial Anchors and Google Cloud Anchors are leveraging existing strengths in mapping towards the AR Cloud. Insane, yet companies are mapping it already.
