I don’t know how many of them will prove to be true, but for sure they all can be something that can inspire you to define your XR strategy for this year. In this blog, I told you about the Finnish Metaverse Strategy , but I’ve heard that also The Netherlands and Korea are bullish on this new technology.

But this opens another debate: if it uses 4 cameras, does it mean that it won’t be based on WMR reference design anymore ? Or that Microsoft is working on a new reference design that fixes the issues of the first one? Unity changes how it handles XR Plugins. Unluckily, we have not the answers to all these questions….

Qualcomm releases XR2 5G reference design. Qualcomm has finally released the reference design for AR/VR headsets based on the XR2 chipset (a special version of the Snapdragon 865 for XR headsets), and it will pave the way for the standalone headsets of the future. This is one of the weirdest rag-doll experiments in Unity.

In the end, I still believe in the old predictions of Unity CEO John Riccitiello: Look at this graph shown by Mr. Riccitiello in 2017: the purple line is the one of the analysts, while the white one is the one forecasted by him. Sony has already clarified that it won’t sell the PSVR 2 together with the launch of the PS5.
