Oculus announced its new developer-focused program today to help grow the ecosystem. Oculus Start is a program created for VR application developers who are just getting started. Oculus did a survey of its developers and found that 50 percent are self-funded so this program will go a long way to help the VR ecosystem.

Oculus plans to introduce in-app purchases to App Lab experiences. Oculus App Lab has been introduced by Facebook to give a way to indie developers to publish their applications for Quest without the need of passing Facebook’s strong store curation. Plus, the Netflix app has been in VR since the times of Gear VR/Oculus Go.

It was too early for Unity, but they taught me about C++, C#, Java, OpenCV, OpenGL and other fancy development stuff. In that period, the Oculus DK2 ordered by Gianni arrived, and he told me that I should go to his office to try that device, and my reaction at that time was like “Oculus what??”

Oculus Quest 2 had a great Christmas. The sales of Oculus Quest 2 have been great during the holidays , and the Quest has been a Christmas gift very much appreciated by kids (but wasn’t there an age limit?). Many Rift users reported problems in using the Oculus Store on PC this week , in particular in downloading games.
