The sales never skyrocketed and now Magic Leap is in desperate need of cash , after many layoffs, disappointing sales, and having put its IP as collaterals to a bank.

HTC has announced a mobile headset called Link — which will only be available in Japan, works with HTC’s new U11 smartphone, and is not affiliated with HTC Vive. If you’re confused as to what this means regarding the boundaries HTC and HTC Vive, well– I am too.

who first immigrated to Japan over 25 years ago. Between that, I worked on consumer cloud software with Google for five years… managing engineering teams for Gmail, Japanese mobile, Google Labs, and social (Blogger etc.) teams for Japan. Meleap (pronounced “may-leap”) is a combination of the words “Merry” and “Leap”.

Viveport is improving a lot, and now HTC is also launching the Vive XR Suite , which will be distributed thanks to the support of a strong network of partners like HP, NVIDIA, Baidu (the Chinese Google), and Accenture. I tried to learn more about diminished reality from the brilliant researchers that are making research on it: there are great people in Japan working on it, for instance. And since you are in VR, you are in a virtual world… well, it is just Unity, just C#, you can do whatever you want to modify the reality that you are seeing.

The third major change came from Unity which recently announced that it will now be serving AR ads on mobile. Unity has one of the world’s largest mobile ad serving businesses and at the end of last year they partnered with Fossil to pilot this new ad format in mobile games.
