HTC advertises it as a headset for relaxation and productivity because it wants to position it as a different product than a gaming machine like Oculus Quest 2. This is an enormous endorsement for virtual reality, and the previous use of 17,000 Oculus Gos by Walmart pales in comparison.

For me this is not a fortunate sentence: this is what Alex Kipman said about the HoloLens, a few weeks before the whole Microsoft Mixed Reality division was disbanded and he was fired from the company. 1 billion of this money is planned in Germany, with €500 million for a new Technology Campus in Erlangen.

The shape of the controllers is slightly different than the one of the Oculus Touch, though, and there is a ring that surrounds the wrist of the user. There is also “finger-tracking” a la Valve Index , but just for the thumb, index, and middle finger (so, it is more a la Oculus Touch). Nreal Light is on sale in Germany.

Microsoft ships HoloLens 2, nReal gets ready to do the same with its glasses. After a long wait, finally Microsoft is shipping its HoloLens 2 headset. There will be also an associated Oculus Quest game, but it won’t be actually revealed until 2020. Oculus Link is coming soon. Machines can now see through walls.
