Sony unveils the new controllers of the PSVR2. One month after the reveal of a “next-gen VR headset for the Playstation” (whose name is not known, but I guess it will be PSVR2), Sony has revealed one important detail of its new VR system: the controllers. The controllers will be given to selected developers very soon.

Tracking has been switched to inside-out , and Varjo now provides a set of controllers, manufactured by Razer, together with the headset. Caveat Eating one of the controllers… still better than pizza with pineapple… Actually, before we start, I have a little boring premise for you.

Microsoft Stays Mum on Xbox VR. Image courtesy Microsoft. During Microsoft’s main E3 2018 presentation, Head of Xbox Phil Spencer talked briefly on stage about the future of the brand, mentioning ‘future “consoles”‘ in development, but there was once again no sign of VR support for Xbox One.

Its controllers have no ring and no onboard cameras. That’s why Quest Touch Pro controllers are better. Quest 3 will be compatible with Touch Pro controllers for the ones that need better accuracy. I expect the tracking of Quest Plus to improve over time thanks to software updates, though. This is impressive.

All the other major companies (Samsung, Huawei, etc…) are working on AR and Apple for sure can’t stop experimenting with if it doesn’t want to miss the next communication platform as Microsoft did with Windows Phone. We don’t know what Oculus will present, but we have some hints. And you can also enter them, as if they were your house!

For sure this has not been made by chance, so there must have been some experimentation that has lead to this design : maybe for the usual movements of the VR users, this setup is able to track the controllers with more reliability, especially when the hands are closer to the body of the user. attaching Leap Motion through an adapter).

The Business Quest is present only in the 128 GB edition and it costs $999. To me, it seems a choice similar to what Microsoft has done with Hololens 2. The controllers are great and let you finally also throw objects in VR and give you all five fingers. the headset alone $500 and the headset+controllers will be priced at $750.
