Leap Motion , a maker of hand-tracking software and hardware, has been experimenting with exactly that, and is teasing some very interesting results. Leap Motion has shown lots of cool stuff that can be done with their hand-tracking technology, but most of it is seen through the lens of VR.

But notwithstanding this, we managed to do a lot of crazy tests , and we dreamt about the moment that powerful standalone headsets supported high-quality mixed reality to bring these tests to the next level. Of course, since I’m not a security expert, I do have not a definitive answer for you.

Recently, Leap Motion kicked off one of our internal hackathons, where small teams pitch and develop quick demos over the course of two days. In fact, I’m a bit surprised it took this long, but researchers at Virginia Tech have put their brains to good use and come up with a way for ordinary mortals to replicate the telekinetic powers of a Jedi in Virtual Reality. It was only a matter of time.
