These are the improvements it applied: Changes in prices will start with the next Unity 2023 LTS, so existing applications will not be affected, at least while the use previous Unity versions Unity Personal will still be free (now up to 200K of revenues) and applications made with it will be subject to no fee at all.

Another leak regarded the release date: an Amazon listing put the availability date of the Quest 3 starting from October, 10th. Development is taking its time, and no glass based on Micro XR is expected to hit the market before 2025. That’s fantastic news for all Unity XR developers! in the reviews!

Amazon Lumberyard becomes opensource. Amazon has launched some years ago its 3D engine called Lumberyard, derived from Crytek’s Cryengine. Now, in what seems a desperate move to become relevant in a field dominated by Unity and Unreal Engine, it has made this engine opensource with the name Open 3D Engine. billion by 2025.

From time to time, I like to look at the adoption graph of XR shown by John Riccitiello (the CEO of Unity) in 2017 , where you can see that the real acceleration of immersive technologies should start around 2022-2023. Yes, it’s a lot of time, but these are realistic projections.
