This week, Microsoft announced that MRTK will migrate to an independent GitHub account and that the project will be supported by a consortium including Microsoft, Magic Leap, and Qualcomm.

Who doesn’t want to do that can still use his/her Oculus account to log in until 2023 , but he/she won’t be able to use all the social functionalities of the device (like Venues, Horizon, etc…). After 2023, the devices won’t be guaranteed to work with an Oculus login.

Zappar’s Zapbox , DigiLens’ ARGO , Sony’s PlayStation VR 2 , the Magic Leap 2 , XREAL (previously Nreal) Air , and the Varjo XR 3 Focal Edition were all in the running, but the prize went to the HTC VIVE XR Elite. We’re just so happy. The award went to Verizon for The Future of Training , an XR upskilling program.

In the meantime, Bloomberg published a report saying that Apple is going to launch its XR headset in the “next several months” (a timeline that goes from now to 2023, I guess), and that it is probably waiting until there could be physical events again before doing it.
