As always in January I like to play the speculation game and make my personal predictions for augmented and virtual reality for the new year (2022, in this case). This is still the situation in this first part of 2022. I think that in a good part of 2022 we will just see the VR market growing because of the huge growth of the Quest 2.

PlayStation VR has been the most successful headset until now (if we exclude the crappy mobile viewers), but now it is pretty dated and people were wondering what Sony was going to do. Some people started to think that Sony could have abandoned VR.

And in fact, some weeks ago Sony has made everyone understand that it has delayed the launch of the PSVR 2 because the market is not there yet. The Oculus Quest 2 is selling incredibly well because it offers the right combination of affordable price, good hardware, and a good software ecosystem. The Quest will still be the king.
