The main one regards the 4 devices we were waiting for this year , which in our opinion should have changed everything: Quest 3, Apple Vision Pro, Google-Samsung Headset, and PSVR 2. I don’t know how many of them will prove to be true, but for sure they all can be something that can inspire you to define your XR strategy for this year. Apple has unveiled the Vision Pro, while Google has announced a mixed-reality headset that is being built together with Samsung and Qualcomm.

I think that the upcoming release of Quest 3, and the increasing rumors about Samsung are going to improve our situation even more. Some magazines reported this news as a sign of the failure of Meta’s strategy about the metaverse. There is instead a rumored partnership with Samsung , where Samsung would actually build a new XR device and Microsoft offer the platform on top of which the headset may run. Sony acquires Bungie and thinks about Capcom.

OMG, it’s almost 3 years that I write these roundups… the first week peek was exclusive for my blog subscribers and it featured as best news the release of Google Blocks and in the other news something about Samsung Gear VR… how much time has passed since then! So many memories… who was there already in VR with me? We’ll see….

It’s too much time that I hear this rumor, and Samsung teased that it was interested in a headset mixing AR and VR, that is exactly the main topic of this reference design. Sony has already clarified that it won’t sell the PSVR 2 together with the launch of the PS5. OpenXR standardization project (Image by Khronos group).
