Meta plans to fight Apple thanks to the help of LG, a company that has deep expertise in manufacturing hardware and displays. This seems a smart decision to me: Meta needs this kind of partner to be able to improve its hardware manufacturing capabilities, and LG is a solid one. Per se, this is a piece of news no one cares about.

Apple is working with ZEISS to bring optional optical inserts to the product, with “Readers” soon available for $99 and prescription standard optics for $149. Steering far away from technology terms like AR/VR/MR and the Metaverse, Apple is approaching the immersive technology space with a new angle, “spatial computing.”

Apple has also unveiled that the ZEISS Optical Inserts will be available in two types: Readers, priced at $99, and Prescription, available for $149. Some immersive games will be available at launch: Game Room, What the Golf?, Apple will open the preorders next Friday, that is January, 19th at 5 am PT. and Super Fruit Ninja.

I've been a bespectacled individual for a very long time, and back when I bought the Oculus Rift DK1 in 2013, it was arguably the only player in the game in terms of consumer level VR hardware. The gamble of scratching the lenses on such an expensive piece of hardware increases tenfold when you cram your own glasses into it.
