Rumors hint to Oculus discontinuing the current Quest and selling the new one at $299 and $399. The Facebook Connect is close and we all expect that during that conference Oculus is finally going to announce the new Oculus Quest. Facebook is temporarily suspending the sale of Oculus Quest devices in Germany.

Feature-wise, it is more or less as we expected it to be, with four cameras for inside-out tracking, haptic feedback, IPD adjustment , eye-tracking, HDR display. Magic Leap 2 has inside-out tracked controllers. And one has surprised me: the controllers will feature inside-out tracking. Some XR fun.

Right now we’re stuck thinking in terms of head-mounted displays (HMDs), like the Vive or the Oculus. Future solutions will get rid of clunky wired headsets and move onto glasses that can project a high-definition image onto the eye, a la Magic Leap, and eventually contact lenses that contain tiny screens.

I personally agree with what he says: notwithstanding the positive trend of VR, the ecosystem has still to grow before it enters the mainstream with the same power of a flat-screen console. Then why Magic Leap hasn’t delivered a solid product with 2B?) Will it be this year? Will it be next year? But will it come at some stage?
