And now the company is also expanding into virtual reality hardware with its StarCade headset. Built in partnership with Acer, Starbreeze is providing high-end VR technology to IMAX , the high-end movie theater chain, for location-based VR entertainment centers at IMAX theaters.

Today on Lunchtime with my Gear VR I am taking a look at Raising a Rukus. This has got to be one of the coolest 360 animated shorts I have ever seen in VR! The production value on this experience is on par with something you would expect to see in a Pixar film. Raising a Rukus was created by Academy Award winner Robert Stromberg (Avatar, Alice in Wonderland, Maleficent) and The Virtual Reality Company and it is available for Samsung Gear VR and can also be seen at the IMAX VR Experience Center.

Game shows have been losing younger audiences for some time. The Future Group wants to change that by making game shows more interactive with mixed reality technology. The Oslo, Norway-based startup — which raised $20 million in venture funding — teamed up with FremantleMedia (maker of the Idol TV shows) to create Lost in Time , a new game show that uses The Future Group’s Interactive Mixed Reality (IMR) on both TV and mobile devices.
