Of course, companies don’t need to have a keynote to say something interesting.

It looks like Magic Leap could be gearing up to jump into the world of mobile AR, as the company recently published a job listing for a senior software engineer who will be tasked with building “a cross-platform framework that enables large scale shared AR experiences between mobile devices (iOS, Android) and Magic Leap devices.”

The Upload Summer Showcase brought news about VR games. Like last year, also this year the Upload Summer Showcase has brought some interesting news about VR games. As usual, this event hasn’t delivered any mind-blowing announcements, but a big series of small news about VR games. Meta launches its Roblox competitor.

Actually, AWE oversees the organization of many events all over the world (for instance, I support the great Cecilia Lascialfari in organizing her AWE Nite Florence events), but the big event in California, together with the ones in Shanghai and Munich, is probably the most important one of the association.

I’m a VR game developer and one of the original Oculus Rift Kickstarter backers. The SDK’s have also matured somewhat and been integrated into game engines, which saved a fair a bit of boilerplate work, streamlining the whole process. It’s like being inside of Unity engine with your friends.
