Samsung, in partnership with Microsoft, today announced the Samsung HMD Odyssey —a Windows VR headset expected to have some impressive specs. The Samsung HMD Odyssey will be available later this year in the US, China, Korea, Brazil and Hong Kong, with pre-orders beginning in the US only on October 3rd.

The Samsung Odyssey, the company’s first PC VR headset, is available starting today in several countries, sold via Samsung and Microsoft stores. Despite Microsoft calling the Odyssey (and other Windows VR headsets) “Mixed Reality,” there is no pass-through video or augmented reality functionality from the cameras.

Yes, there have been some interesting forks like UXR by Enea Le Fons or Mespper in Brazil, but they were exceptional cases. Azure is one of the best cloud providers (Image by Microsoft). There is no ETA for a similar feature for Microsoft Azure, not even for a one-click-install (like for WordPress) on your own self-hosted server.
