This is coherent with the 3 years for BCI (Brain-computer-interfaces) used in gaming that the CEO of OpenBCI told me in a recent interview. Then it could update them very fast and make them as powerful and successful as the Oculus Quest. Apple is working on Micro-OLED displays. and 5–10 years for a more serious adoption.

UK Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) has blocked Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard, which was considered the biggest acquisition in gaming history. The reason, was unexpectedly, cloud gaming. And this will be beneficial for everyone in the field. Yes, you’ve read it well. I hope for this second scenario, of course.

I have to say that this “leak” comes in a very timely fashion , by chance exactly at the moment when Facebook was building the hype for Oculus Quest 2 Pro , convincing so some people to wait for Valve’s moves before buying the new Oculus headset. 3 big titles are showing the current trends of VR gaming. 95% of the content is about the vision of the future “metaverse” in which we all are always in XR , we work, we connect with other people physically distant away, we attend events, we play multiplayer games, etc… all in XR. Regarding the glasses, I have not big hopes for true AR glasses, but I think that thanks to Facebook and Apple, finally we’ll have some important smartglasses entering the market , making the mainstream think about wearing something on their face to enjoy notifications from the phone. Phone AR will be always more popular. Sounded good.
