Samsung’s 2023 Unpacked event was all about the company’s Galaxy S23 hardware, although at the end of its hour-long presentation the South Korean tech giant announced it was working with Qualcomm and Google to develop an XR device. Samsung was one of the first truly massive tech companies to develop VR hardware.

Samsung, in partnership with Qualcomm and Google, has announced plans to develop a new extended reality product. I myself switched from Apple to Samsung in 2015 specifically for Samsung’s Gear VR headset. But when Samsung cancelled the project, I switched to the Google Pixel to stay close to Google’s VR platform.

The Nreal Light glasses launched first in Korea, Japan, Germany, and Spain. On my Samsung S10, I got about two hours max before my battery drained to 30%. While it’s not perfect yet, their software combined with the glasses make for an early AR experience, but one use-cases that already feel useful.

Passes Half a Million Downloads on Gear VR Generally speaking, Oculus and Samsung won’t release official figures for software sales on Gear VR, but Resolution Games today revealed an impressive figure for Bait! Resolution Games’ ‘Bait!’ That’s not all Resolution Games had to announce, though.
