It is some kind of magic. Me trying the Realmax glasses in Nanchang, China… am I not supercool? This is a simpler mechanism than the waveguides employed by Microsoft HoloLens 2 or by Magic Leap, and while it may provide a bit less immersive holograms, it is the only way to provide affordable wide-FOV glasses at the moment.

Keep in mind that Magic Leap One has a diagonal FOV of 50° and you realize why the word “only” is between quotes. The hand tracking was fabulous as always thanks to Leap Motion and its Orion tracking. What I loved was the idea of letting you use your hands to interact with objects.

This is a cool video of me unboxing the Nreal Light Devkit: I have to say that I loved unboxing this headset : while Nreal has not reached the mastery of packaging that Oculus has, it has done a great job: the external box is in a very elegant silver color, and the case of the glasses is small and beautiful.

At Tilt Five, we designed a really clever system that only works on tabletop experiences but it has features that are just leaps and bounds above what the big Magic Leap or HoloLens type AR systems are.
