In particular, it envisions: XR headsets (especially AR ones) being tethered to the smartphone now; XR headsets wirelessly connected to the smartphone (via Wi-fi or similar technologies) in 1–4 years; Fully standalone lightweight XR headsets, connected via 5G, in 5–10 years. This was a very good thing and attracted many people to Magic Leap.

It should run on top of an M2 chipset, which is much more powerful than the processing unit of the Quest 2, 4K displays per eye with strong HDR (a rumor talks about a 5000-nits display, about which many are lost in the optical path), a quite nice FOV. It is compatible with Windows, Mac, and Android, and costs $140.

According to Ars Technica , the frames don’t get sent as a whole, but in little horizonal slices there are continuously streamed, so that to reduce a lot the perceived latency. The external area of the frame is getting huge compression (Image by Ars Technica). All of this is fantastic. Developer tools.
