When Chi Xu left Magic Leap and returned to China, he had big ambitions. He believed China would have its own augmented and virtual reality giants, just as how the domestic smartphone industry birthed global leaders like Huawei, Oppo and Xiaomi that rival Apple today. Magic Leap sucked all the air out of the room.

It will be held at the McEnery Convention Center in San Jose, California on September, 25–26th. What is interesting the most of this announcement is that in the invitation to the event it is stated “Join us to begin a new chapter of virtual and augmented reality”. Magic Leap is suing nReal.

At an event in San Jose, California, Facebook introduced its plan for augmented reality glasses, where users will be able to pull up a visual display on top of what’s actually in front of them. Meanwhile, heftier VR products from Facebook’s Oculus and Magic Leap have mostly been for gamers. Momentum is picking up.

It isn’t alone, we know of many companies that are spending billions on same, including Microsoft, Google, Amazon, Sony, Magic Leap, Huawei, and others. I now call the whole field “spatial computing” which includes all computing humans, robots, or virtual beings move through, including augmented and virtual reality.
