To its credit, the company had the foresight to release HoloLens in 2016, a full two years before unicorn startup Magic Leap could get its first standalone AR headset out the door. Three years later it released HoloLens 2, which directly competes today against Magic Leap Two.

The main one regards the 4 devices we were waiting for this year , which in our opinion should have changed everything: Quest 3, Apple Vision Pro, Google-Samsung Headset, and PSVR 2. OMG, it’s almost 3 years that I write these roundups… the first week peek was exclusive for my blog subscribers and it featured as best news the release of Google Blocks and in the other news something about Samsung Gear VR… how much time has passed since then! Magic Leap raises other $350M. We’ll see…. It’s all very cool.

If this strategy is confirmed, by 2025 Meta would have a cheap $200 device (Quest 3 Lite?), First of all, we have some more info on the micro OLED displays: Sony started selling them in Japan, so we have some more specs: they have 4K resolution, 90Hz framerate, a high luminance, and the capability of reproducing a very wide color range.

Samsung has started putting UWB chips into their devices but they don’t have the M1 chip sitting next to these things, so Samsung is way behind and, really, who will buy an entire house full of stuff from Samsung? In front of you will be two 8K Sony chips, I hear. This is something no other company can do yet.
